One line for today
Let's get to know the God who's truly near, not far away in our minds.
Three meals
Morning · A God Who Is Not Far Away
But saying that God is near doesn't mean God is just like our own feelings or thoughts.
God is higher and holier than we are, and yet at the same time, he doesn't turn away from us—he draws near to us.
Today, let's not shape God into who we want him to be, but instead get to know the God the Bible shows us.
When we pray, instead of only naming our own wishes, let's offer this confession:
"God, help me not to fit you into my own thinking, but to learn your will."
Noon · How Did I Think of God This Morning?
Have you believed that God is present with you in your life?
Or do you look for God on Sundays, but try to handle everything on your own the rest of the week?
God is not an emergency button we press only when we need him.
He is the living Lord who rules over our money, our work, our family, and even our emotions.
Let's take one problem we've been holding onto and trying to solve by ourselves, and hand it over to God.
Evening · "I Believe in God."
Have you treated God like a tool just to answer your prayers?
Or, on the other hand, have you thought he was too distant to care about your life?
The God of the Bible is higher than we are, yet in Jesus he has come near to us.
Even today, he does not turn away from our sin, our fears, or our weakness.
Let's set aside the God we've made up, and return to Jesus, who came to find us at the cross.
Revival doesn't come from shaping God to fit our own mold.
It begins when we humble ourselves again before God's word.
Prayer for the day
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me this morning that You are not far from me. Throughout the day, I realize I often tried to carry my problems alone. Help me know the true God of Scripture, not a god I've shaped in my own mind. Now in the evening, I want to humble myself again before Jesus, who met me at the cross. Help me bow before Your word rather than fitting You into my own frame. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
